Bio
Kevin I. Minor is Foundation Professor of Justice Studies at Eastern Kentucky University. His teaching and scholarly areas include theories of crime and punishment, institutional and community corrections, juvenile justice, capital punishment, as well as evaluation and applied research. Over the last 30 years, he has published four books and more than 60 journal articles and anthology chapters in these areas, along with numerous technical reports; a good many of these publications have been authored with EKU students. Dr. Minor’s work has received national and international recognition. He has served as consultant to various organizations including the National Institute of Corrections, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, the National Institute of Justice, the United States Government Accountability Office, the National Major Gang Task Force, the Kentucky Department of Corrections, the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice, and the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts. Dr. Minor taught at Missouri State University from 1988 to 1992 and has taught at Eastern since 1992. He chaired the Department of Correctional and Juvenile Justice Studies from 1999 to 2009. He holds a B.S. from Indiana State University in Psychology and Criminology (1982), a M.S. in Correctional Psychology from Emporia State University (1984), and a Ph.D. in Sociology/Criminology from Western Michigan University (1988).
