Schept’s Book on Mass Incarceration Published
Judah Schept’s newest book, Progressive Punishment is a well-researched and well-narrated study, offering a novel perspective on the relationship between liberal politics, neoliberalism, and mass incarceration.
It has been described as “a breakthrough in punishment and society research” and a work that “pushes relentlessly and appropriately against the ‘common sense’ understandings of liberal reform that simply exacerbate mass incarceration”. Schept’s stunningly original analysis shows how difficult it will be to escape the carceral state we have built over the past four decades”.
It is now available by NYU Press. For more information, please visit http://nyupress.org/books/9781479808779/
